Talgar Stabbing: Court Hears Competing Accounts in Sherzat Bolat Case The death of 16-year-old Sherzat Bolat on October 4, 2024, in Almaty Oblast, Kazakhstan, continues to unfold in court. The case centers around Abzal Shynasyl, the primary suspect. The prosecutor, Dana Sarsembay, presented compelling evidence, including Shynasyl's confession and forensic findings linking a knife to the fatal wound. "The independent examination showed that the damage to the upper part of the left lung was severe and directly caused Sherzat's death," Sarsembay stated. However, the defense lawyer challenged the validity of previous statements made by the accused, claiming they were obtained under duress. The defense also highlighted the lack of resources for timely medical treatment of one of the defendants, whose arm was broken during the incident. The judge is still considering the defense's motion to disregard prior statements. The victim's family is seeking over 600 million tenge in compensation.
