Skopje, North Macedonia – The Special Anti-Terrorist Unit 'Tiger' (SAE Tigar), a key component of North Macedonia's Ministry of Internal Affairs, continues to uphold its reputation as one of the world's elite special police forces. Established on March 13, 1981, as the Unit for Special Tasks under the then-republican secretariat for internal affairs of SR Macedonia, the 'Tiger' unit has evolved significantly over the decades. Its combat debut occurred during the 2001 conflict in the Republic of Macedonia, where it gained crucial experience. Since then, the unit has continuously enhanced its capabilities across all operational fields. Currently, SAE Tigar is recognized among the top 10 special police units globally, notably ranking as the third-best unit worldwide in sniper proficiency. The unit's rigorous training and dedication contribute to its esteemed status in international security circles.
