Sucre Woman Robbed After Vehicle Purchase Scam in La Paz
A concerning incident of fraud has come to light in La Paz, Bolivia, highlighting a new scam targeting vehicle buyers. Ariana, a resident of Sucre, recently traveled to La Paz to purchase a used vehicle after seeing it advertised on Facebook. After completing the purchase and transferring 100,000 Bolivianos via QR code, she was robbed of the vehicle, its documents, and keys. The alleged perpetrators claimed they had not received the money, and then assaulted her to take the documents.
"They hit me and took everything," Ariana recounted, still visibly shaken from the experience. "I was with my seven-year-old son. It was terrifying."
