
Bolivia Arrests Over 100 in Major Fuel Smuggling Operation
Over 100 Detained in Bolivia's Fuel Smuggling Crackdown Bolivia is cracking down on fuel smuggling, with authorities announcing the arrest of over 100 individuals involved in fuel diversion and contraband. The National Hydrocarbons Agency (ANH) reported the arrests, stating that the operation also resulted in the seizure of more than 125 vehicles used in the illegal activities. ANH Executive Director German Jimenez stated, "Since January, we have apprehended more than 107 people involved in illicit activities." The operation involved the deployment of over 14,000 military personnel to more than 597 service stations across the country to ensure fuel supply and prevent further smuggling attempts. The ANH also highlighted the use of vehicles with altered license plates to facilitate the illegal fuel trade. This large-scale operation demonstrates the Bolivian government's commitment to combating fuel smuggling and ensuring the country's energy security.
