A Mother's Struggle: One Woman's Fight Against Poverty in La Paz
La Paz, Bolivia – In the heart of La Paz, Saturnina Jauira faces daily struggles to provide for her nine children. Five are her own; four are orphaned nephews and nieces, now under her care. "The economy is very low," she explains, "we have to work." Saturnina sells tissues on the street, a common sight in the city, but the rising cost of living makes it increasingly difficult. Prices of basic goods like rice, sugar, and oil have skyrocketed, impacting families like Saturnina's. "I ask the government for help with gasoline, rice, sugar, oil," she says, her voice filled with a mixture of determination and despair. Her story is a testament to the resilience of Bolivian families and the urgent need for economic relief for those most vulnerable.
