La Paz, Bolivia – During a recent vice-presidential debate hosted by UNITEL TV, candidates clashed over historical political affiliations and economic strategies. Medrano asserted that Tuto Quiroga had served as part of Jeanine Áñez's government, claiming his involvement in the cabinet from the outset of that administration. "They were practically a year and a bit together in the government," Medrano stated, challenging his opponent on why proposed solutions weren't implemented then. In response, Juan Pablo Velasco, the candidate for Alianza Libre, firmly refuted Medrano's claim. "Tuto was not part of that government, and everyone knows it," Velasco declared. The debate then shifted to Bolivia's economic future, specifically addressing the role of lithium. Velasco emphasized that while lithium holds long-term promise, it is not the immediate solution to the current economic challenges. "At short notice, it is agribusiness, it is industry, it is mining," Velasco explained, highlighting these sectors as crucial for generating foreign currency and restoring confidence in Bolivia's financial system, which he noted currently suffers from a lack of dollars.
