Bucharest, Romania – In a candid interview, well-known public figure Adriana Bahmuțeanu shed light on her prolonged legal battles concerning the custody of her children following the passing of her ex-husband, Silviu Prigoană. Bahmuțeanu expressed profound dissatisfaction with the Romanian legal system, alleging that her previous legal representation was compromised. "The lawyers were in cahoots with the dead man!" she stated, referring to her former spouse. She recounted the complexities of the situation, noting a significant shift in her legal team. "Only now, in recent months, have I managed to consolidate a team of normal lawyers I can trust and work with honestly," Bahmuțeanu explained. She asserted that these new lawyers believe strongly in her case, leading her to initiate new legal proceedings. Further complicating the family dynamic, Bahmuțeanu revealed that her eldest son, who had pledged to reside with and care for his younger siblings in their late father's home, has not upheld his promise. She claimed he primarily visits and has spent a month abroad in the United States. "It has been proven that he lied," she said, highlighting that the children are largely cared for by a housekeeper. Bahmuțeanu raised critical questions about who provides the children with education, love, and cultural upbringing, emphasizing that she is the only living parent. Bahmuțeanu also addressed accusations of child abuse through media pressure, which she vehemently denied. She stated that encounters with her children at the Directorate-General for Social Assistance and Child Protection (DGASPC) were supervised by multiple employees. "I never touched them, I never verbally abused them, I never threatened them," she affirmed. She attributed the media's presence outside her ex-husband's former residence to his public notoriety, not her actions. Despite the challenges, Bahmuțeanu remains resolute. "It is hallucinatory, but I am moving forward," she declared. She is prepared to take her case to the European Court of Human Rights if Romanian courts do not rule in her favor, underscoring her determination to secure her children's future.
