A 100,000-year-old black iceberg has been discovered off the coasts of Greenland and Labrador, captivating scientists with its unusual age and dark hue. Glaciologist Lev Tarasov has confirmed the iceberg's remarkable antiquity, dating it back approximately 100,000 years. This makes the ice formation older than the period when Homo sapiens began migrating out of Africa. Researchers are currently exploring several theories to explain the iceberg's distinctive black appearance. Initial speculations suggest the dark coloration could be attributed to volcanic ash, the residue of an ancient asteroid impact, or the presence of sediment-rich ice carried from inland regions of Greenland. Tarasov noted that an estimated 90% of the massive iceberg remains submerged, leaving much of its true form and composition yet to be observed.
