In the quiet cemetery of a Belarusian village, a poignant memorial stands as a testament to a community's enduring spirit. Recently unveiled, a black granite plaque, meticulously etched with the map and names of the former residents of Zharnevka, serves as a powerful tribute to a village that no longer exists. "We wanted to honor the memory of our ancestors and our little homeland," explains Svetlana Mukhina, a former resident who helped organize the project. The plaque, she says, "shows the road, where the school was, and the homes of all who lived here." The project is more than just a memorial; it's a testament to the enduring bonds of community, even across generations and geographical distances. The dedication of Mukhina and other former residents ensures that the history of Zharnevka will not be forgotten.
