$2,800 'Star Wars Droid' Robot Fails Basic Tasks in Disappointing Review
A recent video review by The Verge has shed light on the disappointing performance of the Piaggio G1T4-M1N1, dubbed the "Gita Mini" robot. Priced at a hefty $2,875, the device is designed to function as a loyal companion, capable of following users, navigating diverse terrains, and even serving as a mobile party speaker with a 20-pound carrying capacity. However, the reviewer reported significant operational failures. The robot struggled to follow its owner, frequently collided with household furniture, and was unable to pass through a simple doorframe without constant supervision. During outdoor tests, the Gita Mini repeatedly stopped, requiring manual intervention, and on one occasion, it even "face-planted" and fell off a curb, damaging its static discharge strap. The initial unit provided for review stopped working entirely, necessitating a replacement. The second unit, unfortunately, exhibited similar shortcomings. The reviewer expressed bewilderment that a robot costing nearly $3,000 could perform worse than a standard Roomba, concluding that the product is a considerable disappointment and advising potential buyers to save their money.
