Framework Revolutionizes Laptop Charging with World's First 240W USB-C PD Charger and Modular Gaming Laptop
Framework, known for its repairable and upgradeable laptops, has unveiled a groundbreaking 240W USB-C Power Delivery (PD) charger, marking a significant step forward in standardized laptop charging. This new charger is designed to power the company's latest modular midrange gaming laptop, the Framework Laptop 16. The 240W USB-C PD charger is touted as one of the first of its kind globally, capable of delivering substantial power through the universal USB-C standard. This means users can power a high-performance gaming laptop with a charger typically associated with smaller devices, reducing the need for proprietary charging solutions. Demonstrations showed the charger delivering up to 220 watts when connected to multiple devices, exceeding the capacity of Framework's previous 180-watt adapter. A spokesperson for Framework stated, "We're committed to pushing the boundaries of open standards and giving users more control over their hardware." The charger's design also features detachable cords for enhanced portability. The Framework Laptop 16 itself boasts impressive modularity, allowing users to swap out components like the GPU. The laptop offers five USB-C ports for charging, including a dedicated port for the new Nvidia RTX 5070 GPU. The 240W adapter is priced at $109 and is currently available for preorder, with shipping expected to commence in November.
