Greta Thunberg Joins Freedom Flotilla to Gaza, Defying Israeli Blockade

On June 1st, 2025, the Freedom Flotilla, a humanitarian aid mission to Gaza, set sail from Catania, Italy. The flotilla, carrying 12 international volunteers including climate activist Greta Thunberg, aims to break the Israeli blockade of Gaza. This voyage follows a previous attempt in May 2010, where the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) raided the Conscience Flotilla, resulting in deaths and injuries. This time, the flotilla hopes to deliver essential supplies and raise global awareness about the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza. One volunteer, Liam Cunningham, known for his role in 'Game of Thrones,' expressed the mission's determination to deliver aid despite past attacks, stating, "We are not deterred by violence; we will continue to advocate for the people of Gaza."
