Ukraine Under Fire: Deadly Russian Missile and Drone Attacks, and a Hopeful Prisoner Exchange
Following a large overnight drone attack, Russia launched waves of drones and missiles on two Ukrainian cities, resulting in at least two deaths and 13 injuries. Footage shows firefighters in Odesa battling blazes caused by the attacks. In Kyiv, plumes of smoke filled the sky as air defenses worked to intercept the missiles. One resident, a mother with an eight-month-old baby, described seeking shelter in a metro station, saying she tried to "curl up with her son like a mouse" to protect him from the sounds of the attack. Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia launched 315 drones across the country. Despite the ongoing conflict, a prisoner swap between the two sides is underway, offering a glimmer of hope amidst the devastation. This exchange is the first in a series of planned swaps and could become the largest of the war so far.
