A teacher passes out 'magic wands' to each group of students in her class. She feels defeated after the Gen Alpha students break them.

A high school teacher, known online as "Waste of Humanity," has recently shared a candid account of the increasing challenges faced by educators, particularly concerning student behavior. In a video posted on October 20, 2025, the teacher detailed an incident involving a classroom activity meant to engage her 9th-12th grade students, which ultimately underscored a deeper issue of disrespect. The teacher explained that she personally purchased a set of inexpensive plastic "magic wands" during the summer from a closing teacher supply store, investing her own money to make her classes "fun and exciting" for students. She distributed these wands as a symbolic gesture for group leaders during an activity, hoping to foster engagement. However, almost immediately after receiving a wand, one student reportedly looked directly at the teacher and deliberately broke the item in half, then laughed at her visible distress. "This year has been different than any other year before," the teacher stated, reflecting a sentiment often echoed by educators. She emphasized that the incident with the wand, while seemingly minor, represents a larger pattern of students showing a lack of care for property and a general disregard for teachers' efforts. "They just actually really don't care," she remarked, visibly frustrated. "Something's gonna have to change." The video has resonated with many, sparking discussions about the evolving dynamics in classrooms and the emotional toll on teachers. The teacher concluded her message by urging parents to "talk to your kids about kindness," suggesting that a fundamental shift in student attitudes is necessary for the future of education.
