US South Faces Heavy Rains, Flood Threat Looms
Heavy Rains Expected Across US South, Flood Threat Emerges The US South is bracing for heavy rainfall, with a significant flood threat looming, according to a forecast by The Weather Channel. Meteorologist Sara Tonkis warned of an abundance of tropical moisture across the region, leading to several rainy days before conditions begin to dry out. "There are going to be a few more rainy days before that moisture finally starts to kind of creep out of the way and towards the northeast," Tonkis stated. The forecast shows showers and thunderstorms concentrated in the Deep South on Thursday, shifting northeastward by Friday and Saturday. A particular concern is the flood risk, which is considered "very likely" for the Gulf Coast and parts of Georgia on Thursday. By Friday, this threat is expected to move to the Mid-Atlantic region. Tonkis emphasized the importance of monitoring the situation, especially given the saturated soil conditions. "We could see that level two risk of flash flooding," she cautioned. The Weather Channel advises residents in affected areas to stay informed and take necessary precautions.
