Minsk, Belarus – As the annual hot water shutdown period extends to two weeks in some areas of Minsk, residents are seeking unconventional methods to maintain personal hygiene. One local resident shared her experience, highlighting the frustration of prolonged outages and the surprising alternative of utilizing showers available at gas stations. The resident, who documented her journey, expressed dismay over the two-week duration, questioning why it couldn't be shorter, especially when some districts experience only two-day shutdowns. Faced with the inconvenience of basin baths, she and her partner resorted to a 'student lifehack' – heading to a gas station. Upon arrival at a gas station, they discovered that showers were available for a fee of 3.50. The resident noted that only two such facilities were found in Minsk, similar to Mogilev. Inside, the shower cabin was described as clean and functional, with good water pressure and hot water readily available. The experience was described as a significant relief after a week of managing without hot water at home. This situation underscores the ongoing challenges faced by urban dwellers during seasonal utility maintenance.
