Fellow axed Love Island USA cast member who also used racial slur defends Cierra
'Try to educate us'
Yulissa Escobar, a former contestant on Love Island USA Season 7, has publicly addressed the severe cyberbullying and online threats she and fellow Islander Cierra have endured since their appearance on the show. In a recent video, Escobar acknowledged past mistakes made by herself and Cierra, stating, "I know what I did was wrong and I know what I said was wrong. And I know what Cierra said was wrong." However, she stressed that the online harassment has escalated to an alarming degree, affecting not only the individuals but also their families. Escobar revealed the profound impact of the online attacks, sharing that she was "scared to come home" after seeing the messages and that her mother flew to Texas due to concern for her safety. She highlighted that Cierra's family has also received "disgusting messages" and that some individuals even called Child Protective Services on Cierra, which Escobar condemned as "crazy work." "We need to stop fighting hate with hate. The cyberbullying has gone to a whole 'nother level," Escobar stated, urging the community to shift from threatening behavior to education. She emphasized the importance of unity and teaching younger generations to "grow as a community" rather than perpetuating division and online toxicity. "I just hope people could try to teach people instead of like… really think about it, you could literally be somebody's 13 reasons why," she concluded, calling for greater empathy and personal growth from all involved.
