
Massive Cigarette Smuggling Bust in Kelantan: Over 90,000 Cigarettes Seized
General Operations Force (PGA) in Kelantan, Malaysia, thwarts cigarette smuggling operation, seizing over 90,000 sticks of cigarettes and arresting a suspect. The operation, conducted under Op Taring Wawasan Kelantan last Thursday, resulted in the seizure of over 90,000 sticks of cigarettes from a house near Kampung Bunut Susu in Pasir Mas, Kota Bharu. A 63-year-old local man was arrested in connection with the smuggling operation. According to the Commander of the PGA's Eastern Brigade, Datuk Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid, the estimated value of the seized items, including a van, is RM252,000. "The cigarettes were intended for sale in the local market," stated Datuk Nik Ros Azhan. The seized goods have been handed over to the Pasir Mas District Police Headquarters for further investigation under Section 135(1)(e) of the Customs Act 1967.
