Tragic FRU Accident: JPJ Investigates Lorry Permit Violation

Nine FRU members died in a tragic road accident in Sungai Lempam, Simpang, Malaysia, on May 13, 2025. The Road Transport Department (JPJ) is investigating a possible permit violation by the lorry driver involved. JPJ director-general, Datuk Seri Shaharuddin Khalid, stated, "The investigation will be thorough, including under Section 57 of the Land Public Transport Act 2010." Early investigations suggest the lorry was carrying an unpermitted load of gravel, contrary to its permit for transporting rocks. The accident occurred around 8:50 AM as the FRU members were returning from duty in Teluk Intan. The thorough investigation aims to determine the exact cause of the accident and ensure accountability.
