
Malaysia and Brunei Join Forces for Disaster Preparedness
Malaysia and Brunei Strengthen Disaster Preparedness Cooperation A bilateral meeting in Geneva between Malaysia and Brunei resulted in a significant commitment to enhancing cross-border disaster preparedness and safety. Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, announced the strengthening of collaboration, stating, "Malaysia and Brunei are committed to expanding cooperation in cross-border disaster preparedness and safety." This commitment follows a series of natural disasters in the region, highlighting the need for stronger regional cooperation. The agreement includes joint training exercises between Malaysian and Bruneian emergency response teams and knowledge-sharing initiatives. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction 2025. Mr. Hamidi also expressed appreciation for Brunei's willingness to participate in these joint exercises. This collaboration demonstrates a proactive approach to regional safety and security, ensuring a more effective response to future disasters.
