CAIRNS, QUEENSLAND – A 17-year-old boy is facing multiple charges after allegedly carjacking a taxi and subsequently crashing it into a parked vehicle in Manunda this morning. The incident, captured on exclusive footage, shows the dramatic moment police apprehended the teenager.According to authorities, the youth threatened and carjacked a taxi driver just 20 minutes before the crash. Police were actively pursuing the stolen vehicle and had deployed tire spikes on Maya Street. The spikes caused the taxi to veer left, careening into a parked car.Following the collision, the teenager attempted to flee on foot but was quickly tackled by a waiting police officer. Both the alleged offender and the taxi driver were transported to Cairns Hospital, each sustaining minor head injuries. Police confirmed they are continuing to process charges, noting that it is expected to be a substantial list given the nature of the offenses.
