Jim Farley, CEO de Ford, destacó en su reciente visita a China la avanzada tecnología y competitividad del sector automotriz en el país.
In a recent interview, Ford CEO Jim Farley expressed significant concerns regarding China's burgeoning electric vehicle (EV) industry, citing its rapid advancements and competitive edge. Farley revealed he has made six to seven trips to China in the past year, observing firsthand the technological prowess of Chinese automakers. He highlighted that an estimated 70% of the world's electric vehicles are now manufactured in China, boasting sophisticated in-vehicle technology. "It's the most humbling thing I've ever seen," Farley stated, detailing features such as seamless smartphone integration, AI companions akin to China's ChatGPT equivalent, automatic payment systems, and even facial recognition that identifies occupants and their media preferences. He noted that Chinese vehicles offer "far superior" cost and quality compared to their Western counterparts. Farley emphasized the critical nature of this global competition for Ford's future. "We are in a global competition with China, and it's not just EVs. If we lose this, we do not have a future at Ford," he warned, underscoring the urgency for Western automakers to innovate and adapt to the evolving market.
