Dushanbe to Host Community Cleanup at Mehkariere Lake A large-scale community cleanup is set to take place at Mehkariere Lake in Dushanbe on June 1st, 2025, starting at 6:00 AM. The initiative, spearheaded by journalist Zulfiya Golubeva and renowned mountaineer Vitaliy Khinenson, the first Tajikistani to summit Mount Everest, aims to improve the lake's environment. "We invite all Dushanbe residents to join us in making our city cleaner and greener," said Golubeva in a recent interview. Free transportation will be provided for participants, who will be supplied with water, gloves, and all necessary tools. A light breakfast will be served after the cleanup effort. The event promises to be a significant community gathering focused on environmental stewardship.
