Los Angeles, California - A store specializing in the popular 'Labubu' plush toys was the target of a brazen nighttime robbery, with thieves making off with an estimated $30,000 worth of merchandise. The incident, captured on security cameras, has left the store owner, Joana Avendaño, reeling. The robbery occurred when a group of masked and hooded individuals forced their way into the establishment. According to Avendaño, who watched the events unfold remotely, the perpetrators appeared to know exactly what they were looking for. "I saw when they shattered the window from the door and they just rushed in, started speaking and telling each other to grab certain stuff. So it's like if they knew what they were going for and where the stuff was, which I'm not sure how," Avendaño recounted. The stolen items included a significant quantity of 'Labubu' plushies and keychains, which have gained viral popularity on TikTok, with individual pieces fetching prices between 900 and 1500 pesos. In addition to the original 'Labubu' items, the thieves also took 'Lafufus,' a line of imitations valued at approximately one-third of the original products. The store was left nearly empty. Avendaño expressed profound distress over the incident. "Right now I haven't been able to sleep. It's very frustrating because I feel like people don't know how it makes us feel like as business owners. It's already hard enough in this industry," she stated, highlighting the emotional and financial toll of the crime. Local authorities have launched an investigation into the theft. Their current focus is on identifying the suspects and recovering the stolen 'Labubu' and 'Lafufus' merchandise.
