Understanding Car Paint Repair: A Dealership Expert Breaks Down 3 Levels of Service
Atlanta, GA - A local Mercedes-Benz salesperson, Jesse Cannon-Wallace, has provided a comprehensive guide to understanding the various levels of car paint repair available at dealerships. In a recent video, Cannon-Wallace detailed three distinct tiers of service, ranging from minor touch-ups to extensive bodywork. "There are three levels of paint repair available at the dealership," Cannon-Wallace explained, demonstrating each on different Mercedes-Benz models. Level 1, handled by a specialist named Bill, addresses small imperfections like rock chips through precise touch-ups. "He would fill this with layers of paint, it would be almost unnoticeable, let's call it 80% better," she noted. For more significant damage, Level 2 offers two sub-categories. Level 2a, demonstrated on a vehicle with noticeable scratches, involves masking, spraying, and blending the affected area, aiming for approximately 70% improvement. "This isn't too deep and I don't want it to be perfect, so he will mask the area, spray it, blend a little bit," Cannon-Wallace stated. Level 2b is for more severe bumper damage, necessitating removal, reshaping, and full repainting. The most extensive repairs fall under Level 3, which requires a full body shop intervention. "This is not something the bumper guy can fix for me, paint touch-up is not going to solve this problem," she emphasized, showcasing a vehicle with substantial front-end damage. Cannon-Wallace advised viewers to assess their desired outcome, whether it's a perfect finish or simply a good enough repair, to choose the appropriate level of service.
