A young content creator, known as "Jorge el caminante," recently engaged in a direct and impassioned discussion with President José Jeri, believed to be the mayor of the Comas district in Peru, highlighting critical issues of public safety and governance. The encounter, captured on video, shows Jorge expressing profound concerns over the rampant insecurity and extortion affecting the community. He specifically mentioned that motor-taxi drivers are being subjected to "cupos," illegal payments for operating, and lamented the tragic loss of family members due to these unsafe conditions. "All of Comas is experiencing insecurity," Jorge stated, visibly distressed. "Every day, more people are dying." He further criticized the national police, questioning their effectiveness in protecting citizens and alleging widespread corruption, citing instances of officers accepting bribes and committing theft. Jorge also voiced his frustration with traditional media outlets, claiming they only report what is convenient, prompting him to document the reality through his own platform. He revealed that he has been receiving death threats for over two weeks and has been chased with bullets, asking, "Where is the police?" President Jeri listened intently to Jorge's grievances, acknowledging the severity of the situation. "We are working on it," he responded, reassuring the youth that efforts are underway to address the concerns raised. The interaction underscores the deep-seated public dissatisfaction with crime and corruption in the region.
