Texas Mom Arrested, Accused of Aiding Son's Planned School Attack
San Antonio, Texas - A Texas mother, Ashley Rosalinda Pardo, 33, was arrested this week and charged with intentionally and knowingly aiding her son in planning a mass targeted violent attack at a San Antonio middle school. According to an affidavit obtained by CBS News, Pardo allegedly purchased ammunition and tactical gear for her son. The affidavit details that the son was observed at the school on Monday, May 12th, wearing a mask, camouflage jacket, and tactical pants—all items provided by his mother. He was later apprehended off-campus. Police state that the boy's grandmother reported him to law enforcement earlier in the day after he was found hitting a live bullet with a hammer. The boy allegedly told his grandmother that he was "going to be famous." A search of the boy's room revealed additional ammunition and an improvised explosive device. Police had been aware of the boy since January, when school staff found him with drawings that included a map of the school labeled "suicide route." Pardo was released from jail on Tuesday on a $75,000 bond. "What kind of mother is she to be supplying her children with that?" asked one parent at the school. The incident underscores the importance of vigilance and communication between schools, families, and law enforcement in preventing school violence.
