Urgent Search Underway for Missing 5-Year-Old Girl in Santo Domingo Norte

A five-year-old girl, Yuleiny Serrano Santana, was swept away by a rushing stream in the Villa de los Milagros residential area of Santo Domingo Norte on June 6, 2025. The incident occurred in the late afternoon while she played with two other children. Immediately, a large-scale search and rescue operation was launched. Mayor Betty Gerónimo arrived on the scene to supervise the efforts, which involve over 50 rescuers from various agencies, including the Civil Defense and the local fire department. Jean Luis Brea, the provincial head of Civil Defense, stated, "Along with the fire department, we're searching a kilometer and a half stretch of the stream." The mayor expressed gratitude for the swift response and collaboration of all involved agencies. The search continues, with hopes of a positive outcome.
