Desperate Search for Missing 5-Year-Old Girl in Santo Domingo Norte

A five-year-old girl, Yu Lady Serrano Santana, was swept away by a raging stream in the Villa de los Milagros residential area of Santo Domingo Norte on June 6, 2025, around 3 PM. Emergency services immediately responded, but the search was hampered by heavy rain and darkness. "The darkness and debris are making the search difficult," stated Mayor Betty Gerónimo in an interview. Firefighters from Santo Domingo Norte, Santo Domingo Oeste, and the National District, along with Civil Defense, are using chainsaws and other tools to clear the area. Despite the challenges, officials vowed to continue the search throughout the night. "We will continue the search the entire night until the girl is found," said a firefighter from Santo Domingo Norte. The community remains hopeful for the child's safe return.
