Accra Airport Expansion: Terminal 2 to Ease Congestion
Kotoka International Airport Undergoes Terminal Expansion to Ease Congestion Accra, Ghana – The Kotoka International Airport (KIA) is undergoing a significant expansion project at Terminal 2 to alleviate the growing congestion at Terminal 3. The Ministry of Transport announced the commencement of the two-phase project, which will divide Terminal 2 into separate areas for domestic and international travelers. This initiative aims to improve passenger flow and enhance the overall airport experience. "What we are doing now is to decongest Terminal 3 into Terminal 2," explained an official from the Ministry of Transport in an interview with Channel One TV. "We have positioned Terminal 2 into two phases—one for domestic and another for international trips." The expansion project is expected to be completed within two years. The improvements will not only increase capacity but also create a more comfortable and efficient environment for travelers. The project includes the renovation of existing facilities and the construction of new ones. The addition of new facilities will allow the airport to handle larger volumes of passengers and cargo. The completion of this project is anticipated to significantly improve the efficiency of KIA, benefiting both domestic and international travelers and boosting Ghana's tourism sector.
