SANTA LUCÍA DE TIRAJANA, SPAIN – As temperatures soar, the Animal Protection Center in Santa Lucía de Tirajana is going above and beyond to ensure the comfort and well-being of its canine residents. Faced with a relentless heatwave, staff at the center have implemented a series of innovative measures to combat the extreme heat. "The days have been incredibly hot here at the center," stated a representative from CPA Santa Lucía. "Even the water in the pool gets warm. We are really looking forward to this heatwave passing." Among the measures captured in a recent video, staff were seen adding generous amounts of ice to dog water bowls, providing refreshing showers for the animals in their enclosures, and even offering frozen chicken feet as a special, cooling treat. While many dogs eagerly embraced the cool water, some, like Bandurria, showed a clear aversion to it, requiring gentle encouragement. Meanwhile, her brother, Timple, humorously attempted to 'steal' her water during her reluctance, showcasing the individual personalities of the animals. The center expressed gratitude for public concern regarding the animals' welfare during these high temperatures. They also emphasized their core mission: "We try to make these hot days more bearable, but they truly deserve to cool off in a home." The video concludes with a powerful message: "Adopting one of them won't change the world, but it will change THE WORLD for that animal," reinforcing the urgent need for adoptions.
