Žnjan Beach Unveiled in Split: Celebrities and Locals Share Mixed Reviews on Grand Opening

SPLIT, CROATIA – Žnjan Beach, a revitalized coastal area in Split, officially opened its doors to the public with a grand celebration, drawing a large crowd and notable figures. The event, marked by live performances and a spectacular fireworks display, aimed to showcase the beach's transformation into a vibrant public space. Among the attendees were popular Croatian singer Marko Tolja and actor Tarik Filipović. Tolja praised the new Žnjan, remarking, "It's fantastic. I'm from Rijeka, and I adore Split, and I'm terribly jealous that you have this here. It truly has a bit of a Miami vibe, and it's truly magnificent." Filipović echoed similar sentiments, stating, "I think this is a big thing for the city and for our entire tourist offering." However, local residents offered mixed reviews. One woman expressed disappointment with the event's organization, saying, "The organization is very bad; you don't know who's drinking, who's paying. It's as if Žnjan is reserved for VIPs, not for the people who are here constantly. Overall, I'm very disappointed. Very unorganized." Another local, while acknowledging the beauty of the renovated beach, also noted organizational shortcomings, particularly regarding public access to the main amphitheater area. Despite some criticisms, many expressed excitement for Žnjan's future. One young man rated the beach a "10 out of 10" and hoped for more youth-oriented concerts, specifically mentioning Grše. Another resident stated, "Žnjan looks great. The architects really hit the mark with what this city needed." The general consensus among many was that while the opening night had some minor issues, the long-term potential for Žnjan as a central hub for events and recreation is immense.
