
Birmingham Man Sentenced to 30 Months for Petrol Station Car Thefts
Birmingham, UK – A man identified as William Lewis has been sentenced to 30 months in prison for his involvement in the theft of approximately £150,000 worth of vehicles from petrol stations across the Birmingham and Solihull areas. West Midlands Police released CCTV footage capturing Lewis and an accomplice in the act. The footage shows individuals approaching vehicles at petrol stations while owners are distracted, often in the process of refuelling or checking tire pressure. In one instance, a man is seen hiding behind a car before quickly entering it and driving off as the owner attends to their fuel tank. Another clip shows a man entering a car while the owner is at an air pump. Authorities stated that Lewis has a history of similar offenses and has been in and out of jail. His accomplice was also identified. West Midlands Police have been commended for their efforts in apprehending the individuals responsible for these brazen thefts, which caused significant financial loss to victims.
