Car owners are increasingly concerned about vehicle theft, especially with modern cars that can be stolen in mere seconds using sophisticated electronic devices. Experts from a car dismantling business have demonstrated a clever trick to deter thieves by modifying the car's On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) port. According to the specialists, thieves often duplicate car keys and unlock the vehicle's central control unit via the OBD port. To counteract this, they suggest removing the original OBD connector from its accessible location and hiding it elsewhere within the dashboard. A dummy connector is then installed in the original port. When a thief attempts to connect their device to the fake port, the connection fails, preventing them from starting the vehicle and ultimately forcing them to abandon the theft attempt. This simple yet effective method offers a new layer of security for concerned car owners.
