Dr. Olmos identifies three prevalent breakfast items that he advises against for optimal well-being. According to Dr. Olmos, the first problematic breakfast choice includes white bread and sugary cereals. "This breakfast rapidly spikes blood sugar levels," he states, "but after a few hours, it leads to a sharp drop in energy and uncontrolled cravings. Furthermore, it lacks the essential nutrients your body needs." This rapid fluctuation in blood sugar can leave individuals feeling tired and hungry shortly after eating. Secondly, Dr. Olmos warns against fruit juices and smoothies loaded with sugar. While often perceived as healthy, he explains that "a fruit juice on its own or a smoothie with excessive fruits and sweeteners can be a sugar shock for your body." This sugar overload can cause an insulin spike, resulting in fatigue, hunger, and a lack of sustained energy. Finally, Dr. Olmos highlights torrefacto coffee as a less recommended option. "Most people have coffee with their breakfast, but torrefacto coffee is one of the least advisable," he notes. He clarifies that this type of coffee incorporates sugar during its roasting process, making it very harmful to the body. "Additionally, the chemical compounds generated in this process can inflame your digestive system and reduce nutrient absorption." For coffee lovers, Dr. Olmos recommends choosing natural versions without additives to safeguard their health. The expert's advice underscores the importance of mindful breakfast choices for maintaining energy levels, avoiding cravings, and supporting overall digestive health.
