Fatal Bus Crash in Lima: ATU Confirms Casualties and Transport Disruptions
Lima, Peru A devastating collision between a Metropolitano bus and a public transport custer resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries at the Dos de Mayo station in Cercado de Lima. The Urban Transport Authority of Lima and Callao (ATU) has officially confirmed the deaths. According to preliminary reports, the custer illegally entered the exclusive Metropolitano lane, leading to a head-on impact with a Metropolitano service unit. The incident occurred at the height of Plaza Dos de Mayo, in the direction of Rimac. Emergency response teams, including personnel from the National Police of Peru and the Peruvian Firefighters, swiftly arrived at the scene to provide assistance to the injured. It has been reported that passengers from the Metropolitano bus were transported to Clinica Internacional, while those from the custer received medical attention at Loayza Hospital. The accident has caused significant disruption to public transport. The exclusive Metropolitano lane has been partially closed, and buses are being diverted via Lampa and Emancipacion avenues. This diversion has led to considerable delays for commuters traveling towards Naranjal station. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash to determine full responsibility.
