Partial Road Closure Announced on El Salvador Route for Bridge Construction

Guatemala City, Guatemala – The Ministry of Communications, Infrastructure, and Housing (CIV) has announced a temporary partial closure on the CA-1 Oriente highway, specifically at kilometer 11.5, affecting traffic on the route to El Salvador. This measure is part of the ongoing final works for the construction of a second bridge aimed at ensuring safe and fluid passage. The closure is scheduled for Thursday, July 24, 2025, and will be in effect from 6:00 AM until 12:00 PM. During this period, one of the two ascending lanes will be temporarily closed to facilitate the movement of heavy machinery and to carry out resurfacing work in the areas approaching the new bridge structure, which is oriented towards Guatemala City to the East. According to the CIV, these works are in their final phase, with the full habilitation of the passage anticipated for Thursday, July 31, 2025. The Ministry, with support from PROVIAL and the PMT of Santa Catarina Pinula, emphasizes that the temporary closure is crucial for the safety of both road users and construction workers. Drivers are advised to take necessary precautions and seek alternative routes during the specified hours.
