Toronto Couple Finds Larger Apartment for Less Amidst Shifting Rental Market
A couple residing in Toronto, known as Én a Tied, recently shared their unique moving experience, relocating just one floor up within their current building. The move, which occurred swiftly after a competition, presented logistical challenges but ultimately led to a more advantageous living situation.Lilla, one half of the duo, explained that a recent downturn in Toronto's rental market, influenced by political factors and a slowdown in immigration, created opportunities for better deals. They successfully secured a three-bedroom apartment, an upgrade from their previous two-bedroom unit, for a marginally higher rent. A significant benefit of the new unit is the addition of a second bathroom, which will provide their son, Zsombor, with his own private space when he begins university in September.The couple also highlighted the appeal of their new, albeit smaller, terrace, which offers a unique connection to nature, resembling a 'forest house' due to an overhanging maple tree. They reported sightings of raccoons, deer, and hummingbirds. Furthermore, Lilla noted her success in renegotiating better rates for various services, including car and home insurance, by simply updating their new address. The couple plans to provide a full tour of their new home once they have completed unpacking and settling in.
