A Polish landlord, identified as Arek.Świder, recently shared his challenging experience with a tenant who allegedly caused significant damage to his apartment and failed to pay rent for eight months. The tenant, who reportedly kept rabbits in the apartment, left the property in a state requiring extensive renovation, including replacement of furniture, walls, and ceilings, as well as ozone treatment. Mr. Świder stated that the repairs cost tens of thousands and required his personal time and effort, working nights and weekends. Despite pursuing legal action through the prosecutor's office and court, all criminal charges against the tenant were ultimately dismissed. Mr. Świder discovered that the tenant had substantial debts, making any civil recovery unlikely. He opted not to pursue a civil lawsuit to avoid further financial and emotional strain. Reflecting on the ordeal, Mr. Świder revealed that the negative experience served as a catalyst for a major life change. He has since sold his business, car, and the renovated apartment, preparing to move abroad to fulfill a long-held dream. He views the challenging period as an invaluable lesson, emphasizing the importance of diligence and the transformative power of adversity.
