Spanish Law: Up to 5 Extra Years of Pension Contributions for Mothers
Spain's Social Security offers women up to 5 years of additional pension contributions for childbirth or childcare. This new law aims to address gender inequality in pension systems by recognizing the time women spend raising children. A recent video by financial health expert Esmeralda Gómez López highlights this initiative. "Up to 5 years of fictitious contributions for childbirth or childcare," López explains in her video. The law allows women to add 112 days of contributions for each birth, up to a maximum of 1,825 days (5 years). This will help women who have taken time off work to care for their children receive a more equitable pension. This initiative is a step towards gender equality and recognizes the valuable contributions women make to society. The Spanish government hopes this will encourage more women to participate in the workforce and secure a better financial future for themselves.
