Former Belarusian Teacher Reveals Frustrations: From Apartment Checks to Unpaid Printing

MINSK, Belarus – A former primary school teacher in Belarus has shed light on what she describes as frustrating and impractical demands placed upon educators within the country's school system. In a recent online video, the teacher, who identifies herself as a former primary school instructor, detailed several key issues. Among the primary concerns raised is the 'All-inclusive education' initiative, which reportedly mandates teachers to visit approximately 100 apartments to collect data on children. The teacher stated that this task can take weeks or even a month, often yielding minimal cooperation from residents, and is compensated with a negligible bonus or a day off. She questioned the effectiveness and safety of such an approach, particularly when encountering various individuals. Another point of contention is the requirement for teachers to conduct family visits. Despite the necessity of these visits, only one hour per week is allocated for them, which the teacher explained is barely enough for travel to and from homes, let alone conducting multiple visits effectively. She emphasized the lack of support and potential risks involved for teachers undertaking these duties alone. Furthermore, the former educator highlighted the bureaucratic burden of submitting all required documents in printed form, noting that schools do not provide teachers with printers or paper. She argued that the absence of these factors could significantly contribute to teacher burnout and resignations, suggesting that these responsibilities should ideally fall under the purview of specialized social services rather than teachers.
