Liget Budapest Project Wins Global 'Urban Development Oscar'
Budapest's Liget Project Honored with Prestigious Global Urban Development Award Budapest, Hungary – The Liget Budapest Project has been recognized on the international stage, earning the coveted 'world's best urban development' award, often referred to as the 'real estate Oscar.' Gyorgyevics Benedek, CEO of Városliget Zrt., announced the significant accolade, highlighting its importance for both Budapest and Hungary. The award was presented by FIABCI, one of the world's oldest real estate organizations, which has been granting various recognitions for over 70 years. This year's ceremony, held for the first time in Africa, specifically Nigeria, saw the Liget Project triumph in the highly competitive urban development category. Benedek emphasized that the recognition extends beyond individual cultural institutions within the 99-hectare City Park. "They didn't just award a music house or an ethnographic museum, but they acknowledged the entire 99-hectare complex as a sustainable and beloved experience that we can offer here in Hungary," he stated. He added that the project sees 10 million smiling faces annually, underscoring its widespread appeal and success. According to Benedek, the 60-member international professional jury fully grasped and appreciated the essence of the Liget Budapest Project, recognizing its comprehensive offerings as a recreational park and cultural hub. The award signifies a major international acknowledgment of Hungary's efforts in urban renewal and cultural development.
