Brazil Fights Back Against Robocalls with New Tech
Brazil Launches New System to Combat Robocalls: Origem Verificada offers a technological solution to the rising problem of unwanted automated calls. The initiative, a collaboration between Brazilian telecom operators and Anatel, aims to identify the caller and their affiliation, even if the number is not stored in the recipient's phonebook. While the technology is free and requires no additional app, compatibility is limited to devices connected to 4G or 5G networks and varies across different phone models and operating systems. "The expectation is that by the end of the first half of 2025, 75% of smartphones in use will be able to receive authenticated calls," said an Anatel representative. The video showcases the functionality of Origem Verificada on various phones, highlighting the differences in display information across devices. This initiative represents a significant step towards protecting consumers from fraudulent and unwanted calls.
