Soligorsk, Belarus – The Republican Speleotherapy Hospital in Soligorsk has issued a robust response to a series of viral TikTok videos that criticized its facilities and treatment efficacy. The videos, created by a former patient, alleged poor conditions and a lack of engaging activities within the underground treatment center. "Газета Шахцёр" investigated the claims, presenting a counter-narrative that emphasizes the hospital's primary function as a medical institution. The hospital's chief physician, Alexander Laputa, confirmed that the patient in question received a free treatment voucher but departed after only one day, reportedly stating that the treatment did not suit her. However, Laputa noted that no formal complaints or grievances matching the online criticisms were filed with the hospital administration during her stay. Patients currently undergoing treatment at the facility reportedly praise its effectiveness for respiratory conditions, highlighting the unique environment of the salt mines. They underscore the importance of adhering to prescribed regimens and engaging in respiratory exercises for optimal results. The hospital also offers a range of physiotherapeutic procedures. In light of the disparaging content, the hospital management, through "Газета Шахцёр," announced its intention to refer the matter to law enforcement agencies to seek a legal assessment of the videos, which they describe as "simply pouring dirt" on the institution. This incident brings to light the growing impact of social media on public perception of healthcare facilities.
