
Mother of Attempted Murder Victim Expresses Relief After Drug-Fueled Double Murderer Sentenced to 39 Years
Bletchley, UK – Amanda Bassett, mother of 18-year-old Jake Brown, an attempted murder victim, spoke outside court today following the sentencing of Jazwell Brown. Brown, who murdered his partner and a neighbor, and attempted to murder another neighbor on Christmas Day in Bletchley, has been sentenced to a minimum of 39 years in prison. Ms. Bassett expressed a sense of relief regarding the verdict. "I'm very relieved," she stated, adding, "It's not happiness... no one's a winner in this, no one's won." She described the horrific events as "like a horror movie." Speaking about Jazwell Brown, Ms. Bassett stated, "He was basically a monster. He was never really good with his son. He never had a father and son relationship." She further elaborated on his character, saying, "He uses vulnerable people. Joanne was very vulnerable. The neighbors were very vulnerable. He homes in on vulnerable people because he can control them." Concluding her statement, Ms. Bassett affirmed, "He's got what he deserved. I think justice today has been served." She expressed hope for the future, stating, "I'm hoping that we can all move forward now and that the families can get some peace and he never really comes out of jail. I really hope that he does die in jail really."
