Madrid Metro Pass Prices to Increase by July 1st: Government Subsidy Reduced
Madrid, Spain – Commuters in Madrid are facing increased public transport costs as the monthly pass prices are set to rise starting Monday, July 1st, 2025. The increment is a direct consequence of the government's subsidy being reduced from 60% to 40%. According to official announcements, the Zone A pass, for instance, will see its price increase from 21.80€ to 32.80€. Similarly, the Zone B1 pass will go from 25.40€ to 38.20€. Zone B2 will adjust from 26.80€ to 40.80€, Zone C1 from 28.80€ to 43.80€, and Zone C2 from 30.80€ to 46.80€. However, a temporary measure allows commuters to mitigate the immediate impact of the price hike. If users recharge their transport pass before Sunday, July 30th, 2025, they will pay the old, lower price, even if they use the pass throughout July or August. This offers a brief window for residents to benefit from the previous rates before the full effect of the price adjustment takes hold.
