    Fitness Influencer Shares 'Hard Truths' on Weight Loss: Ditch Diets and Embrace Realistic Goals

    In a recent online video, fitness influencer Kols, known as @healthkols, shared what she describes as "hard truths" about weight loss, drawing from her personal journey of losing 70 pounds. Her advice focuses on practical, sustainable approaches rather than extreme measures. Kols, who achieved her weight loss through a calorie deficit, highlighted three key points. First, she asserted that waiting for motivation to begin a fitness journey is a common pitfall. "If you are waiting for motivation to start, you're not going to start," she stated, encouraging immediate action regardless of motivational levels. She suggested starting with small, manageable changes, like parking further away or switching to almond milk, to build momentum. Secondly, Kols addressed the issue of unrealistic expectations. She advised viewers to stop comparing themselves to fitness influencers, noting, "These fitness influencers that you're comparing yourself to online, that's their full-time job." She emphasized that many people do not have the time or resources to maintain a physique that requires constant, intensive effort. Instead, she recommended setting realistic, achievable goals, such as being able to walk around a theme park without exhaustion. Finally, Kols underscored the importance of a calorie deficit. "Exercise means nothing if you aren't eating in a calorie deficit," she explained, adding that even popular diets like keto or intermittent fasting are ineffective for weight loss if a calorie deficit is not maintained. Her recommendation is to "ditch the diets altogether and just eat in a calorie deficit," allowing for the enjoyment of preferred foods within those caloric limits. Kols plans to continue this series, aiming to help individuals achieve sustainable weight loss without restrictive practices.
