Automotive expert Garner Ted has released a comprehensive list of five SUVs that potential buyers should reconsider purchasing in 2025, citing significant issues ranging from reliability concerns to poor value. The analysis, shared on social media, aims to equip consumers with crucial information before making a substantial investment. Among the vehicles highlighted is the 2024 Toyota Sequoia, which, despite its reputation for durability, is criticized for "laggy performance, tight third-row space, and a hybrid system that's not living up to the hype." Ted notes that many buyers have expressed disappointment, particularly given its nearly $80,000 price tag when fully loaded. The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse also made the list, with early issues already surfacing after its full redesign. "Glitchy screens, rough shifting, and a loud, choppy ride" are among the problems reported. Ted advises waiting for these initial bugs to be addressed before considering a purchase. Nissan's 2024 Rogue is flagged due to its continued use of the CVT transmission, which has historically caused problems. "Jerky shifts, hesitation, and early failures are all still being reported," according to Ted, suggesting that despite a new look, the underlying mechanical issues persist. The 2024 Volkswagen Taos, while appearing to be a budget-friendly option, is said to hide "expensive issues." Specifically, the all-wheel-drive version's dual-clutch transmission is described as "clunky and glitchy," compounded by electrical bugs and cheap build quality. Finally, the 2024 Jeep Grand Wagoneer takes the top spot for unreliability. Despite its luxurious features and high price point, which can reach up to $110,000 fully loaded, it suffers from "suspension failures, constant warning lights, and electrical issues" that are deemed "way too common." Ted emphasizes the importance of thorough research for any major purchase, particularly vehicles, and encourages viewers to evaluate their current insurance policies to avoid overpaying.
