Ghana Seeks Interpol's Help to Apprehend Former Finance Minister
Ghanaian authorities have issued an Interpol Red Notice for Ken Ofori-Atta, the country's former finance minister. Ofori-Atta is wanted on charges of using his public office for profit. The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) alleges his involvement in several controversial projects, including the National Cathedral and a deal with Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited. "I triggered processes for the issuance of an Interpol Red Notice for the location and provisional arrest of Mr. Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta," said a spokesperson for the OSP. Despite being summoned for questioning earlier this year and claiming medical reasons for his absence, Ofori-Atta failed to appear. The Interpol notice has alerted 196 countries to his case. The OSP has vowed to continue its pursuit until Ofori-Atta is returned to Ghana to face justice. This case highlights ongoing concerns about corruption and accountability within Ghanaian governance.
