Saltillo Deluge: Unplanned Foundation Saves Construction Site from "Apocalyptic" Flood

Saltillo Deluge: Unplanned Foundation Saves Construction Site from "Apocalyptic" Flood Saltillo, Mexico - On July 6th, a torrential and "apocalyptic" rain unleashed severe flooding across Saltillo, transforming streets into rivers and submerging vehicles. The unprecedented deluge caused widespread damage, including collapsed perimeter fences and swept-away property. Rescue teams were deployed to assist stranded residents, navigating through waters that reached depths of up to 1.90 meters in some areas. Among the affected sites was a construction project managed by local professional juve3dstudio. Despite the area's history of flooding, the main structure of the house under construction remarkably withstood the severe water levels. The owner revealed a crucial, unplanned decision made during the foundation phase: an additional 20 centimeters were added to the perimeter's block layer. "I don't know why, God surely illuminated me," the owner stated, explaining that this seemingly minor adjustment proved pivotal in preventing water from entering the ground floor of the dwelling. While the main structure remained intact, the basement, which had an open access point for carpentry removal, did flood, requiring the use of a pump for water extraction. The flood also swept away various construction materials, including shovels, wheelbarrows, and lighter thermal blocks, and likely damaged a cement mixer. The incident has brought to light the vulnerability of urban areas to natural phenomena, particularly when natural water courses are altered by irregular urban developments. "Water has memory and seeks to return to where it used to pass," the owner remarked, suggesting that such unplanned settlements contribute to these disasters. The video serves as a stark reminder for urban developers and planners to consider long-term hydrological impacts in their projects. The construction team is now focused on cleanup and resuming work, emphasizing the importance of resilience and proper engineering in the face of nature's power.
